Council of Two Hundred : ウィキペディア英語版 | Council of Two Hundred The Councils of Two Hundred (''Rat der Zweihundert'' or ''Conseil des Deux-Cents'') were the legislative authorities in five Swiss cities (Zürich, Bern, Fribourg, Basel, and Geneva) prior to the French Revolution. They were medieval in origin, although the council in Geneva dates to 1526. They sometimes contained as many as 300 members. They were superseded by smaller legislatures with the less specific name of "Grand Council" (''Grosser Rat'' or ''Grand Conseil''). ==Bibliography==
